Pat is also a member of a number of other community groups in Greenbushes, the wider Shire of Bridgetown Greenbushes and the South-West region. He is recognised as someone who lives by example and does not mind hard work. It is this vision and drive which encourages other community members to get involved and develop their quality of life.

Pat was elected to the Bridgetown-Greenbushes shire council in 2001 and remains an active member of that council. His specific focus has been the development of community pride in the town of Greenbushes and building a more sustainable, attractive town that has facilities and activities for the youth and elderly.

Some of the highlights of his time on council include being part of the management and design committee for the Bridgetown Greenbushes Recreation Centre and his current role on the newly established library management committee. He has played a role in developing systems such as 5 year plans for the road, pathway and infrastructure maintenance programmes, and formulating an active strategic plan that looks at developing the region in a sustainable and responsible manner. Pat is the Chairman of the Sustainability Advisory Committee which is supported by a number of well respected and skilled community members.
